2013 Texas Stonewall Democrats Awardees

The Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus (TSDC) announced that it will present four awards at its Third Biennial Statewide Conference in conjunction with the Equality Forward Summit in Austin on April 5-7. The awards will recognize a TSDC member for outstanding leadership, two local Stonewall Democrats chapters for their political achievements and a politician for his advocacy of LGBT equality in the Texas Legislature.
The awards will be presented during a Sunday brunch featuring keynote speaker State Rep. Mary Gonzalez (D-Clint), who is openly pansexual and is serving her first term in the Texas Legislature.
RGV Stonewall Chapter Elects New Board Members

McAllen, TX - On Wednesday, February 13, 2013, the Stonewall Democrats of the Rio Grande Valley elected four new members to its Executive Board. The newly elected board members include: Yvette Alafa, President; Andrew Heffner, Secretary; Alma R. Vera, Member-at-large; and Linda Leal, Memberat-large. They will be joining David Lumber, Vice-President, and Bill Ruppert, Treasurer on the Executive Board.

This year Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus and the Texas Democratic Party is proud to bring the Equality Forward Summit to inform and educate the Texas LGBT community on matters of politics, policies, and to cross train our Texas Democratic allies on social issues important to the LGBT Community.

TEXAS STONEWALL DEMOCRATS CONTRIBUTE $5,500 TO CANDIDATES
The Executive Board of the Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus (TSDC) approved $5,500 in campaign contributions to state and local Democratic candidates across the state. TSDC endorsed 53 federal, state and local candidates and contributed $500 each to 11 of those candidates.
Local Stonewall Democrats clubs from different regions of the state were asked to recommend one of their own endorsed candidates to TSDC for financial support .
